SOCH Auxilian Recognized for $200,000 Gift to Hospital Through a bequest in her will, longtime SOCH Auxilian Nancy Guild donated $200,000 to Southern Ocean County Hospital. She was specifically mentioned – along with the Armellino and Goldman families, the OceanFirst Foundation, and the hospital’s four Auxiliary chapters – during the recent dedication of the Tracy Armellino Telemetry unit. Nancy Jean Guild was born in 1928 in Westwood. She graduated from Montclair State College in 1950, where she also earned her master’s degree in 1955. Nancy moved to Surf City in 1968, and was a teacher in the Stafford school system for 15 years, before retiring in 1984. Nancy began volunteering at the Old & New Shop in the 1980’s, where she was a cashier for many years. She then started with the SOCH Auxiliary’s sewing group around 1990, keeping records of the number of puppets and lap covers made and donated to SOCH, and delivering them herself. In 2005, she was recognized for 20 years of volunteer service. Marie Field, former President of the SOCH Auxiliary, recalled a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer. “Nancy was a blessing, and a tireless volunteer, who accomplished so much for the Auxiliary and hospital.” “Here is an extraordinary example of one individual’s ability to leave a lasting legacy,” said Chris Rollins, Executive Director of the SOCH Foundation. “We are grateful for Ms. Guild’s generosity. She will be remembered for directly impacting the quality of life in her community, through her gifts of time and support.” To learn more about leaving a legacy through your will, the potential advantages of charitable estate planning, and the special recognition accorded through The Knight Society, please visit www.SOCHFoundation.org, or contact SOCH Foundation Executive Director Chris Rollins at (609) 978-3081 or crollins@soch.com
