SOCH Foundation Transfers $1.5 Million to Hospital

The SOCH Foundation transferred $1,500,000 to Southern Ocean County Hospital. These funds will be used for new and replacement medical equipment, and renovations to the Hospital.

The $1.5 million represents net proceeds from the SOCH Foundation’s 2008 activities, which include donor memberships in the SOCH Societies, the Auxiliary thrift shops, and special events. Previous Foundation-supported improvements include the introduction of digital mammography, the new Cath/IR lab, and the Tracy Armellino Telemetry Unit. The Foundation will soon turn its attention to planned improvements in the emergency department.

“Our Foundation and Auxiliary enable us to do more, sooner,” said Hospital CEO Joe Coyle, adding, “We know that our donors and volunteers have choices, and we sincerely appreciate their generous support.”

SOCH Foundation Executive Director Chris Rollins added, “SOCH was born out of philanthropy, and our continued success increasingly depends upon it. The difficulties confronting hospitals across the state and nation remind us that we can no longer afford to take for granted our community hospitals and convenient access to healthcare.”

John Flynn, volunteer Chairman of the SOCH Foundation, concluded, “Whether you are a seasonal or year-round resident, SOCH is your hospital. It just makes sense to support it.”

Like the Hospital it supports, the SOCH Foundation is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, making donors’ gifts eligible for a charitable income-tax deduction as allowed by law.
