SOCH Employees Set Fundraising Pace

Ocean First Donation

SOCH staff gather outside the hospital to celebrate a successful employee fund drive. Together, the employees of SOCH contributed over $185,000 to the SOCH Foundation.

The employees of Southern Ocean County Hospital demonstrated their unwavering support for their community hospital. Together, SOCH employees raised over $185,000 to support SOCH’s ongoing efforts to provide the very best that healthcare has to offer the residents of southern Ocean County.

“I am pleased that our employees have come together to make the SOCH Foundation’s Fund Drive such a resounding success, but I am certainly not surprised,” said Joseph P. Coyle, President and CEO of SOCH. “Our employees are part of a team of dedicated professionals who go out of their way to ensure all of our patients have a remarkable healthcare experience. I am proud to be a part of such a dedicated group, and impressed by the example they have set for our community.”

SOCH Foundation Chairman, John Flynn, echoed Coyle’s thoughts. “As we enlist the necessary charitable support of the community, it is important to be able to demonstrate the endorsement of our own staff. We appreciate all they do, every day, to deliver quality healthcare, and are especially grateful for their support.”

Maggie McKenna, Education Specialist at SOCH, who served as chair for the Employee Committee, spearheaded the membership drive, which used the year “1972” as its theme. “The Hospital opened in 1972, so we created a campaign called “Where Were You in 1972?” that used music, videos, and news clippings from the 1970’s,” Maggie explained. “It was a great way to educate the employees about our history, emphasize the important role SOCH has played over the past 35 years and encourage them to give to the campaign.”

The volunteer employee committee included vice chairs Janet Bennett, Debra Christians, Barbara Delaney, Lisa Fisher, Amanda Roy, and Brenda Snow; as well as Joan Burns, Carolyn Dougan, Jeanne Ellis, Marian Falzararo, Candice Granberg, Sally Griffiths, Carol Holmes, Don Jones, Mary Koppa, Georgia Leone, Kathryn Malinka, Colleen McLaughlin, Judy McQuillan, Marinella Menucci-Aboyoun, Marlene Morin, Janet Mull, Kari Scheimreif, Harry Scofield, Pat Sheppard, Nick Sinopali, and Ellen Wielgomas.

The Foundation also wishes to thank Jim De Francesco of Hogpenny Studios for his wonderful video production, as well as the many local businesses who donated door prizes.

Chris Rollins, Executive Director of the SOCH Foundation, added, “We are fortunate to have such a wonderful and devoted group of employees. Just as the area’s residents did twenty years before we opened our doors, the SOCH family understands that charity begins at home, and has clearly shown its commitment to reinvesting in the health of the community we serve.”
