In 1952, a group of community leaders began a grassroots campaign, uniting residents and businesses to support the establishment of a community hospital for the residents of Southern Ocean County. In 1972, after 20 years, their tireless fundraising efforts culminated in the opening of Southern Ocean County Hospital. SOCH was conceived and created by visionary volunteers; determined to bring affordable, quality, and convenient healthcare to their family and neighbors; and willing to enlist their support to make it possible. That spirit has grown into the Southern Ocean County Hospital Foundation. The mission of the SOCH Foundation is to improve the health status of the community we serve, by providing charitable support for the growing capital and programmatic needs of Southern Ocean County Hospital. The SOCH Foundation’s volunteer Board of Trustees, dedicated Auxilians, and enthusiastic volunteers host a series of annual events, operate thrift shops in three communities, and continue to encourage reinvestment in the health of our community.
